Why Mormons believe in pirates...

Per Phillips request, I am explaining the title of my last blog. If you've heard this story already, oh well.
2 years ago we had just gotten married. My parents were still in Canada so we spent most of Christmas Day with Phillip's family. Present exchanging time came and there were lots of fun presents for everyone. Strangely enough, the one gift that we talk about the most, we have never actually used. It came time for us to receive our gift from Phillip's sister. The whole time Julie's husband is laughing and Julie has a really concerned look on her face. She says she hopes the gift doesn't offend us. We look at her a little weird and they say they will explain after we open our gift. It was one of those really nice bookshelf games (we love games) called Dread Pirate.

So there's nothing funny about a game...is there? Well, it turns out that while they are shopping for and find said game, Julie says (in all seriousness) "but do Mormons believe in pirates?" At this point in the story we all break out in laughter and we tell her, "Yes, Julie, Mormons do believe in pirates." We then go into a detailed discussion on how pirates are real, not like fairies, and you sort of HAVE to believe in them.
I love my sister-in-law, I really do.
