Superwoman

Titus 2:3-5
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient
to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

This is a really good chapter. It's short (you can read it in under 2 minutes) and gives a lot of direction and things to think about. I stumbled on it today and thought "how appropriate."
This is exactly what we (the YW leaders as well as the everyday woman) have been asked to do. At times it seems like there are so many "Thou shalt not"s that the list gets overwhelming. ("Are we writing in our journals? Is our garden planted? Have we read the scriptures today as a family, companionship and individuals? Have we prayed today as a family, companionship and individually? etc, etc, etc")
We feel that we need to be Superwoman/wife/mom, when in reality the list is so short: Are we "teachers of good things"? I have to say that the women (and men) I know and am surrounded by are definitely teachers of good things and already supermen and women.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

PS - Happy St Patty's Day!
