As of today I am officially diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I've got a great doctor I'm starting Metformin And I get to lose 10-15 lbs in the next 2 months!
In other news: Thanks Nichole for the yummy strawberry jam the elves left on the porch the other night!
I have PCOS too! Who is your doctor? I take Metformin as well. Loosing the weight is the hardest part for me since I am also insulin resistant. Pretty much if I loose 2 pounds a month I am lucky. I found a great book called "What To Do When The Doctor Says Its PCOS" By Milton Hammerly M.D. and Cheryl Kimball. It really helped me to understand what PCOS is and ways to treat it. Its good that you caught it early. I wish you all the best!
That sucks. Word to the wise: the fertility doctor put me on that, and apparently I am allergic to it. Be careful with the meds, it will really screw up your stomach!
Thanks everyone for the good wishes! I'm excited! Check back with me in a few months and see if I'm still so excited. :) Nichole: I'm always up for a walking buddy! Natalie: I'm seeing Dr. Kopacz with Fresno Women's Medical Group. She is very positive and went through all of my test results, by my side! I'm so happy to have a doctor who listens and cares! I read part of that book online yesterday and am going to have to go buy the whole thing now. Good luck to you too! I'm glad you found me! Tiana: I'm sorry you've had such a hard time with this. I know meds can affect people in very different ways. Knowing that the Lord is by my side and knows my concerns is the biggest support I have found. I hope and pray that someday you can turn to Him for the same strength.
Okay. Don't say I didn't warn you, but I know that there are some pretty serious side effects, not just in me, but a lot of people. And good luck with that last comment! :P Take care.
Every medication has side effects. I'm excited to have a diagnosis! It's great to have goals to reach for. The Lord puts trials in our paths for our growth and development. I'm working on my puzzle, just like everyone else. We have to trust the Lord sees the big picture and knows what's best for us.
Can I first just say that I absolutely LOVE you?! Cause I do! And I know that with your determination, positive attitude and trust in the Lord, everything will work you just the way it should! You are amazing and I can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks =)
Julianna! I have PCOS too! I am so glad you have a positive doctor. I didn't and was so depressed thinking it was never going to happen for me. I was on metformin too (yuck) and then clomid and I got pregnant very quickly (in spite of my doctor's negativity. Take that!). Now I have a 4 month old. :) For me it was such a relief too know why I wasn't getting pregnant and was the answer to so many problems I have faced my whole life. Now you have a solution! Awesome! Good luck! Remember to keep staying positive and turn to the Lord when you need him.
Natalie, I did not know you had it too! How did I not know that??? I haven't heard of that book you mentioned, but it sounds interesting. I think I will check it out!

Well...at least you know what your dealing with! Good luck with the medicine...and the weight loss!
I'm not sure what that is, but good luck with the treatment.
Your welcome, although it might not help with the weight loss. Let me know if you want to go walking sometime.

I was at the doctors on Thursday and saw your car (again) wondered how things were going. Good Luck! We still need to get together.
The Lafferre's
good luck! We love you and Phil and hope the best for you and your future family! I love the weight loss ticker... how do you update it??
It's way easy. You just click on it, put in your pin and update it.
Thanks for the reminder!
