Hello, my name is Julianna, and I don't know how to let things go.
There is an event coming up in YW. The event planning has been given to one of the young women to plan for a Personal Progress project.
Whenever I talk to said young woman, I hear "Yes, I need to do that." However, to my knowledge, almost nothing has been done. It has been very hard for me to just let this go, but I feel I have done a good job doing so...until Sunday.
Someone "in authority" ...encouraged... me to not let the girls be in charge of large things like this event. I have since taken the "encouragement" and come up with a back-up plan. I have a program, movie, speakers and musical numbers ready. All parties involved know that they are just-in-case.
I don't feel I should have to have this.
I did one of these events as one of my projects. When I left the extra sheet music at home for a special musical number, no one was there with extra music covering my back side. I made it work. The responsibility was mine and mine alone.
I feel there is too much coddling of the youth these days.
"(The youth) have been born at this time for a sacred and glorious purpose. It is not by chance that you have been reserved to come to earth in this last dispensation of the fullness of times. Your birth at this particular time was foreordained in the eternities.
"You are to be the royal army of the Lord in the last days. You are “youth of the noble birthright.” (Hymns, 1985, no. 255.) " -Pres. Benson
How can the youth be expected to be in an army if they are never asked to take responsibility for their actions. If we come behind them and cover up all of their mistakes, how will they ever learn?
"How will they learn, unless we teach them so?"
Note: This is just a rant...no feelings are meant to be hurt, no names were put in this for that purpose.
Side note: Tara, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We hope your health is restored quickly!!!

Humm, Well I thought we had gotten approval from said person in authority to let said young women do this as the project. . . You know, if it had been another said young women, said person in authority probably wouldn't have a problem with it. . . :-) Just a side thought.
You girls are too funny! I am glad I do not know the "SAID" peoples... but I feel the same way. When I was in YW I was in charge of the Campfire Programs at Girls Camp... I knew I would either KILL it, or want to kill myself. I pulled it off, and STILL to this day hear about how great of a job we did (I did it with another YW) You need to learn things when you are young to be able to do things when you are older! ~
As one of your former YW President's :) All I can say is not all the girls are as wonderful as YOU!!!
