Widow's Tale

Well, Phillip is gone until late Wednesday night and so I'm husband-less for the next few days and I thought it was time to update the blog.

September 23
Phillip had a work meeting in Ellensburg.  As I had only driven through the town, I took him up on the chance to go for a road trip.  While he was in his meeting I wandered around the town and saw some of the beautiful historic buildings.
and homes
and I found a quilt store!  It's a beautiful little college town.
When I dropped Phillip off for his meeting, he mentioned maybe going to the temple in Seattle (Bellevue) afterwards so I found a Fred Meyer (nothing in my price range in those cute stores) to find some church clothes as I was just in jeans.  I wandered for a few moments before finding the clearance was all down to 60% off!  I found a skirt and shoes that would work with the top I was wearing and then found a cute dress with no price tag (and no similar dress to compare the price to).  When I asked the associate, she went and found the cheapest dress on the rack and gave me that price!  I ended up with a dress, skirt and shoes all at $11.96 each!
Then I headed back to the hospital to get Phillip from his meeting and we drove up to Seattle.

September 24
I watched the Relief Society broadcast at home.  I loved President Uchtdorf's talk (here) about Forget-Me-Nots and was talking to Nichole about it after the broadcast.  We both want to grow them now.  Well, my sweet husband heard that and went to work on Monday and called all of the stores to see if he could have some delivered to me.  Unfortunately he found out that they are not in season.  So instead, today after taking him to the airport (he's in Chicago) this morning, I came home and received this delivery:
He is such a sweetie. The card says: "I miss you and I'll be home in 2 days. Love, your husband."

September 30
I went to the fair to help a friend work a booth for her children's school in the morning. We had planned to go to the Columbia River temple, but at 2 p.m. Phillip called and asked if I wanted to go down to Portland instead. I said: "Sure, why not?" So, 2 1/2 hours later we were on our way.
It was a beautiful drive along the Columbia River!
After the temple we went up to Vancover, WA to get some Krispy Kreme donuts for Saturday morning's General Conference (a family tradition for us).  Then, on the way back, we stopped at Denny's to get some dinner.  I asked for a water and the waitress showed up with a tiny glass.  So I asked her for a larger glass (or multiple small glasses) and instead she just brought me a whole pitcher because "it would take me just as long."  Where is customer service these days?!?!

What a sweet thing for Phillip to try and get you forget-me-nots! What a great guy! Glad you are enjoying the sights of your new state of residence. It's fun to live it through all your pictures and stories.
