Random Thoughts Running Through My Head

  1. "Welcome to the 21st Century: No Imagination Required "
This was a blog I stumbled on. It made me think of a study Pam Keyes read once and shared with us. It was about how small screen technology affects your brain and how it differs from large screens (i.e. movie theatre screens). The study talked about how small screen technology is making us use less and less of our brain.
One illistration was of an elementary school teacher reading a book to her class. One of the boys was looking off around the room, obviously not paying attention. She questioned him as to what he was thinking, asking him what he pictured the characters, scenery, etc. like. The little boy couldn't do it. He had not developed the ability to imagine.
How much is the technology we have costing us?
  2. CS Lewis
Tonight is book club. Yay!!! Am I ready? No. Though I have got some great material. I've been reminded of how much I love Mere Christianity.
"(Repentance) means unlearing all of the self conceit and self-will that we have been training ourselves into for thousands of years. It means Killing part of yourself, undergoing a kind of death."
"...the Christian thinks any good he does comes from the Christ-life within him. He does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us."
  3. Tree Down
Last night we got our Christmas Tree down. It was rather bitter-sweet. It's nice to have that part of our house back again, but it seems our house is rather dull and color-less now. Guess I'll have to find some Valentine's Day decorations to liven it up again.
  4. Great Husband
I have a wonderful Husband. He went out in the cold (multiple times) to bring in the boxes from the garage and take them back out again. He took the tree outside (his poor back). He even brought back in the other table that was in storage c/o the tree. AND he did all this just because he was wanting to help - I didn't even ask him to. He is so wonderful. He's been a great support in my new calling. Thank you!
  5. 24
Years ago I acquired this love affair for the TV show 24. On the 28th of this month it will be 3 years ago that Phillip and I started dating. Prior to our first date, he and his home teacher (thank you Rick) started having what we called "FHE part 2". Pretty much it was (1) a group of YSA's watching 24 and (2) an excuse to get the two of us together.
24 started again on Sunday. 4 hours over 2 days. It's happy time in the Iverson household.
  6. All of you
Thank you all for being such great friends.

I love the C.S. Lewis quote. Thanks for sharing it. Is it okay if I steal it???

I've been trying to have a daily funeral for myself, sometimes it works, sometimes they resurrect themselves, darn it! LOL!

Go for it. It's my favorite...for the week. I'm sure I'll find another soon. :)
Good luck on the funerals.
