June 23, 1961 my parents were married in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Since before January of this year, my sister and I have been planning a surprise 50th anniversary party for them. The party was planned and the invitations were out...and then Phillip and I decided to move to Washington. So we had done all of the sad good-byes while thinking "but we'll just be back next week...". It all turned out well. They were very surprised.
I stayed at the church building, finishing up the decorating while Barb went to pick up mom and dad to "take them to lunch" for their anniversary. We had a group of their friends and a nice pile of cards waiting for them. Thank you to all who helped, came and sent cards. A special thank you to Grandma Mayhue for the monetary support and assistance. Also a thank you to the McGhie's and Swann's for their help with the slide show and to the Dehmel's for letting us hide out at their house.
I forgot to take any pictures until everything was taken down and mom and dad finally got to stop and get something to eat.

The party started at 2 and ended about 4:15. Phillip and I went from the building back into the car and picked up Mom Iverson for the trip back. She volunteered to come up for a week and help us finish unpacking. We managed to get 99% of the things out of boxes and threw in a few fun trips. We went all over Yakima searching for bookcases (we needed two more for the office) and even took a day trip to Seattle.
Mom has a friend in the Seattle area so we met her for lunch at Chinook's At Salmon Bay. After lunch we went into the city and wandered around Pike's Place.

One of the stores had some things our nephew, Ian would LOVE!
After a fun-filled week, still minus two bookcases, I finally fell asleep sometime after 12:30 a.m. Friday morning and woke up by 3:30 to get Mom Iverson to the train station in the Tri-Cities area. After I dropped her off, I wandered from the train station (Pasco) to find the temple (Kennewick). I arrived shortly after sunrise.
I think these pictures actually turned out pretty well for taking them with my phone.

That same Friday night (after a nap for me) we were invited over to the home of a family from church, the Kibbe's. They have six kids and have started including us in their prayers to join the kid-friendly group. (We'll take any prayers people want to give!)
One of the two sight-seeing stops of Zillah is the God-Zillah. Phillip and I stopped on our first trip together to Zillah. I just found this picture and I think I never posted it before. The statue is at the "Church of God - Zillah."

This past week has been a blur. Phillip started working on June 20th. His birthday was Wednesday and the fun started that morning when I got to babysit for the Grigg's (3 kids). When Phillip got home that night, I had a scavenger hunt thru the house for him to find his presents and me (with a birthday hug and kiss). Then we went into Yakima for dinner (Red Robin), more presents (Borders) and dessert (Baskin Robins).
This Thursday we were invited to another home, the Daley's, who live around the corner from us. (They have 5 kids.)
Friday I went back into town and found some material for 2 skirts to make and (drumroll) decided on the Target bookcases! This morning we went to the temple, lunch (Applebee's) and to the Chocolate Emporium here in Zillah for a huge slice of chocolate dipped cheesecake for me and a scoop of home-made chocolate ice cream for Phillip. We came home and put the bookcases together and are finally done for the day.
Whew! What a crazy 2 weeks!
