Memories

I went to the Amish store yesterday with my parents and they have this jar of cream.  When I opened the jar it filled me with memories of Grandpa's "Old Man's Salve".  The stuff is potent and says on the jar it's not to be used for babies.  You're supposed to put it on your chest when you're all congested and it clears you right up.  (Like Vicks but 100 times stronger).
Then, I was putting in my entries for Nichole's Honey Tea Thyme Review and Giveaway and found another salve on Honey Tea Time's Etsy Page.
Salve, Muscle Relaxant for achy bodies, all natural ingredients.
It doesn't look to have the same ingredients, but I'm really interested in this.
Anyway, here's the recipe for Old Man's Salve c/o my great grandmother's journal for anyone who's interested:

Old Man's Salve

1 lb white Vaseline or petroleum jelly
1 small inch square of para-wax
1 1/4 oz. menthol crystals
2 oz. eucalyptus oil

Melt Vaseline and para-wax, then add other ingredients.  Mix well.
Put in small jars for use in colds, etc. in chest, inflamed parts.
Especially good for sinus infections.
This is too strong to use for babies.

Depending on how courageous I feel, maybe I'll whip some up for Christmas gifts....we'll see...
