Twilight. No, I haven't read it yet. I probably will, mostly because the girls are all big on Twilight and I want to know what they're reading. At the time, my copy of the first book is at my moms house. So in the meantime I'm doing some reasearch on the books. One of Phillip's students said she was disappointed in the fourth book and that she "expected more from an LDS author". Because of this I've started my research with looking to find what she didn't like about the books. In this search I stumbled on an article/blog entitled "Top 3 Reasons Twilight Isn't Cool...or Sexy...or Worth Your $10" The title struck me, though I'm not looking at the movie, because it seems that quite a few individuals out there are reading and in love with the book/movie. Their 3 reasons were:
1. Mormons
2. Abstinence
3. There’s a better vampire movie you should be watching (at which point they proceed to suggest that any good vampire movie should be rated R)
I had some responses roaming through my head (mind you, I haven't seen the movie either) but then came across a response to this blog that seemed to be VERY appropriate. Thank you "Aaron".
i'm sick of everyone accusing meyers of forcing her beliefs on people, or making mormon propaganda.
she wrote a ** book that happens to reflect her beliefs. she's not making anyone read it. that's the same as overly zealous conservatives accusing a book where people do have sex of being liberal atheist propaganda.
This seems appropriate for almost every book/movie out there at this time. Everyone complains that it's too sexy or not sexy enough or whatever, but no one MADE you read or watch it. Such is life I guess.

My main reason for my boycott is simply because one, it seems to have come out of no where in popularity and two, I heard that it actually wasn't well written and being an english major has raised my expectations of writers. If they are going to write something, it should be well written. Anyway, that's just me.
Sounds like a good reason to me. We all have things that we like or don't like.
I tend to not like the books that everyone else is in love with. Example: I know I'm supposed to be in love with "The Work and the Glory" and I just couldn't get into it. I hated the first 1/2 of the first book. Everyone says "It gets better by book 3". I'm not going to read 2 books I don't like just to get to one I might. Just my opinion. :)
