Proud Auntie

A few weeks ago Phillip and I made a quick trip down to California in part to see my mom (she is having health issues) and in part to see my 18 (!!!!) year old nephew receive his eagle award.  Here is the article from the Elk Grove Citizen (newspaper):

Court of Honor Feb. 18 for Eagle Scout Jared Smith

One of the newest Eagle Scouts in the Elk Grove area is Jared Alexander Smith, Venture President of Crew 188 and a Den Chief of Cub Scout Pack 188 in the Soaring Eagle District of the Golden Empire Council. He has been actively involved in Scouting since he was 8 years old.
Smith, son of Russell and Barbara Smith is a senior at Cosumnes Oaks High School. He is a part of the school’s morning news broadcasting program and head videographer for the COHS football team. For his Eagle Scout project he organized 40 community volunteers to paint over 200 cement parking bumpers in the school colors.
Hobbies include airsoft, camping and Xbox video gaming as well as playing the saxophone and clarinet and serving as a leader in his church’s youth organization.
Smith is part of the first graduation class to complete all four years at Cosumnes Oaks.
His Court of Honor will take place Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house, 6711 Seasons Drive, Elk Grove. He will also receive his Bronze and Gold Eagle Palms in recognition of further achievements.
